How Environmental Management System certification strengthens the quality of our production processes and the value we deliver to our partners
On 23 December 2025, Weerg obtained ISO 14001:2015 certification for its Environmental Management System, issued by ICIM S.p.A. and internationally recognised through the IQNET network. This certification confirms that all our production processes – from CNC milling to 3D printing with HP Multi Jet Fusion technology, from sandblasting to vapour smoothing – are now managed in accordance with verified and measurable environmental standards.
This is not just a certificate to hang on the wall. It is the formal recognition of a journey we have undertaken with conviction, because we believe that the digital manufacturing of the future must combine speed, precision and environmental responsibility. Without compromise.
ISO 14001:2015 is the international reference standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS). Unlike other certifications that focus solely on the finished product, this standard evaluates the entire organisation: processes, resources, monitoring of environmental impacts, risk management and a structured plan for continuous improvement.
In simple terms, ICIM S.p.A., an accredited third-party certification body, has verified that Weerg has a structured system in place to:
Identify and monitor the significant environmental aspects of its activities
Define measurable objectives to reduce environmental impact
Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations
Train staff in the responsible management of resources
Implement corrective and preventive actions based on concrete data
Continuously improve environmental performance
The certification is valid for three years (until 22 December 2028) and includes periodic surveillance audits to ensure ongoing compliance with the required standards.
We could have continued operating without this certification. Many of our competitors do. But for us, that was not enough.
On-demand digital manufacturing is inherently more sustainable than traditional production: it eliminates unnecessary stock, reduces waste and optimises material usage. However, we wanted to go beyond good intentions. We wanted data, verifiable processes and measurable responsibility.
We chose to certify our Environmental Management System for three specific reasons:
More and more companies – especially in the automotive, medical and aerospace sectors – require suppliers with documented environmental certifications. Not as a trend, but out of necessity: ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) regulations are increasingly becoming mandatory requirements across the entire supply chain. With ISO 14001:2015, we provide our partners with a fact verified by an independent third party, not a generic claim.
Certification requires us to constantly measure our environmental impacts: energy consumption, waste management, emissions and material usage. This data enables us to identify concrete areas for improvement and implement corrective actions based on evidence, not assumptions.
We operate in Scorzè, in the province of Venice. Our facility is part of a local community. Having a certified Environmental Management System means taking responsibility for our impact on the territory and on the people who live there.
ISO 14001:2015 certification required deep work on processes, procedures and company culture. It was not a simple journey, but it has led to concrete and measurable changes.
Every production phase (CNC milling, HP MJF 3D printing, sandblasting, dyeing, vapour smoothing) is now precisely mapped to identify inputs, outputs and potential environmental impacts
We have implemented standardised procedures for waste management, separating plastics, metals and residual materials according to best practices
Systematic monitoring of energy consumption to identify inefficiencies and optimisation opportunities
Tracked management of hazardous materials and chemical substances used in finishing processes
Continuous staff training on environmental procedures and emergency management
Periodic internal audits to verify compliance with standards
A structured reporting system to monitor key environmental performance indicators
Involvement of suppliers and partners in the continuous improvement process
Every process is traceable, with documented evidence of environmental compliance
Availability of reports and certifications for customers requiring ESG documentation
Full transparency of processes and impacts for supply chain audits
This certification is not only an advantage for Weerg. It represents tangible value for those who choose us as their manufacturing partner.
Reduced supply chain risk. An ISO 14001:2015-certified supplier guarantees verified regulatory compliance, traceable documentation and standardised processes. This means fewer surprises, greater predictability and more confidence in supply chain management.
Process reliability. When developing a new component, certainty is essential: compliant materials, repeatable processes and consistent quality. Environmental certification is an indirect indicator of structured organisation and process control.
An ESG-compliant partner. If your company has sustainability objectives or reports according to ESG criteria, working with ISO 14001:2015-certified suppliers simplifies reporting and demonstrates the concrete nature of your commitments.
A competitive advantage in investment rounds. Institutional investors increasingly assess the sustainability of the production supply chain. Working with certified partners can make a real difference during due diligence.
ISO 14001:2015 certification is not an end point. It is the beginning of a continuous improvement journey that we are committed to pursuing with the same pragmatism we apply to production.
In the coming months, we will continue to:
Optimise energy consumption through detailed analysis of the most impactful processes
Explore alternative materials with lower environmental impact without compromising technical performance
Strengthen collaboration with suppliers who share our environmental standards
Communicate our progress transparently, including the inevitable areas for improvement
We believe that responsible manufacturing is not a burden or a constraint, but an opportunity to build more efficient processes, stronger relationships and longer-lasting value for all stakeholders involved.
For Weerg, ISO 14001:2015 certification represents a formal commitment to the environmental quality of our processes. Above all, it represents a clear choice: we want to be part of a European manufacturing industry that competes on the global market not only through speed and precision, but also through responsibility and transparency.
Because producing well also means producing consciously.
