How does MSLA Masked Stereolithography work?
Masked Stereolithography (MSLA) is a 3D printing or additive manufacturing process that uses UV-sensitive liquid resins as a material. These UV rays are used to impress a selected area (through a mask) of the print area that will then solidify. Level after level, the desired object will be created, from the bottom up. The peculiarity of this 3D technology is the high degree of definition that can be achieved as each level is only 50 µm high. The resins are characterized by an extremely homogeneous and smooth finish. Finally, many industrial resins offer interesting performances such as Tough Resin or High Temp Resin.
Why choose MSLA Masked Stereolithography?
Masked Stereolithography (MSLA) is a technology that works only with resins photosensitive to UV rays. The increasing use of this technology has led to the development of new industrial resins in recent years that have made a mark on the sector thanks to their performance and cost-effectiveness. All resins are distinguished by an extremely smooth and homogeneous finish with a high degree of detail equal to 50 µm. Resins have been developed to replace applications that were previously handmade by professionals to recreate the same precise definition: for example, High Temp resin allows you to create highly faithful moulds for goldsmiths and able to resist high casting temperatures.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is MSLA or SLA better?
Stereolithography (SLA) and masked stereolithography (MSLA) are technologies capable of processing the same materials: UV-sensitive resins at 405 nm or 385 nm. Although the processing principle is similar, there are some operational differences: SLA technology uses a laser to precisely catalyse the resin; MSLA technology, on the other hand, creates a "mask" of the entire layer and uses it to catalyse the entire printing plate. Therefore, MSLA technology is much faster and defined on the large scale, with a consequent reduction in production costs.
What materials can be printed with MSLA or SLA?
Stereolithography is a 3D printing or additive manufacturing process that uses liquid resins sensitive to UV rays as a material. These UV rays are used to impress a selected area (through a mask generated by an LCD screen) of the print area that will then solidify. The resins that can be processed with this technology include many interesting materials at an industrial level such as Tough Resin, very resistant and flexible, High Temp resin, perfect for moulds or connectors subjected to high temperatures, or transparent and translucent resins.
